Mera Peak (6,400m.), one of the highest peaks in Nepal is 21,248ft, around half-height between the summit of Mont Blanc and the top of Everest. Along with high altitude trekking, Mera Peak also puts forward beautiful scenic views. Most significantly, Mera Peak trek will let you explore the traditional Sherpa villages of the Solu Khumbu and witness the blue pine and rhododendron forest trails of the Hinku Valley.

Mera Peak trek begins from Kathmandu with a drive to Jiri and a trek to Lukla at 2800m. On the other hand, you may take a flight to Lukla and stay there overnight. Heading off from Lukla to Chutanga we pass through rhododendron and pine forests and come across the Zatra-La pass the trek which is very sheer and you can see Cho Oyu, the world’s 6th highest mountain and the Numbur Himal. Moving down into the Mera Valley from Chatrabu, we get the finest view of Mera’s South, Central and North peaks.  Then, we further go through more forests, of rhododendron, bamboo and pine to reach Kothe (Hinku khola) from where the trekking is easier to Khare Base Camp, at 5000m. From Khare to Mera-La it is steep and there is a number of crevasses but from Mera–La to our high camp at 5800m is easier.

Mera Peak trip from Mera La serves with a marvelous mountain panorama of the eastern Nepal Himalayas always in sight. The peaks visible include Mt. Everest (8848m), Cho-Oyu (8201m), Lhotse (8516m), Makalu (8463m), Kangchenjunga (8586m), Nuptse (7855m) and Chamlang (7319m) amongst many others. Most importantly, Mt. Everest is visible to the north over the massive unclimbed south face of Lhotse and the Nuptse.
