Dakshinkali- Pharping- Kirtipur Day Tour
starts after breakfast at 9:00am. A private vehicle will pick you up from the hotel and take you to Dakshinkali, the temple dedicated to Goddess Durga. Dakshinkali is located 25km far from Kathmandu and we will reach the temple at around 10:00am. Huge crowd of devotees visit Dakshinkali every Saturday and Tuesday. This temple is infamous for blood sacrifice of birds and animals. Along with religious significance, Dakshinkali is also praised for its scenic location.
Leaving Dakshinkali, we will cover four kilometre distance to Pharping where we will visit 17th century temple of Goddess Bajra Jogini. Pharping is a scenic destination which is rich in viewpoints, resorts and forest. The great Buddhist Saint Padmasambhava is said to have used the cave in Pharping for meditation. Pharping has many caves like Gorakhnath cave and Sheshnarayan Cave. Newar, Brahmin, Rai, Magar and other ethnics have lived in harmony since many centuries in this village.
Kirtipur is one of the oldest human settlements in Kathmandu Valley. Inhabited by Newar ethnics, this city is perched atop the hill and is bounded by Kathmandu in North, Chalankhel VDC to the south, Bagmati River in east and Machhegaon VDC in west. We can witness Newari culture at its raw form in Kirtipur. Bag Bhairav Temple and Chlanchu Vihar are other places worth visiting in Kirtipur.
Soaking in the deep cultural experience, we will return back to Kathmandu where you will be transferred back to hotel.
